Duncan is the co-owner and Executive Director of Learning Solutions. Previously, Duncan worked for eighteen years as Director of Counseling Services at three independent schools; The Williston Northampton School, The Bement School, and The Academy at Charlemont. During this period, he also maintained a private psychotherapy practice with a focus on children, couples, and families.
He has held various administrative jobs ranging from Clinical Director at a large human service agency to coordinating behavioral health services in primary care practices at Baystate Medical Center. For twelve years he taught courses on clinical practice in the graduate social work programs at Smith College and the University of Connecticut.
In his clinical practicum in graduate school, he was trained in child-centered family therapy, an integrative model that emphasizes understanding the child in the context of the family and enhancing the capacity of the family and community to support growth and development of the child. His post-graduate training includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-based approaches.
Whether it be managing a large staff or working with an individual, Duncan brings a collaborative and systems focus to his work.
He has a B.S.W., Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University, and an M.S.W., Master’s degree in Social Work from the Smith College School for Social Work.
