Licensed Clinical Psychologist | Psychotherapist | Clinical Supervisor

Dr. Benjamin M. Gaddes (Ben) is a licensed clinical psychologist at Learning Solutions, where he provides psychotherapy for adults, clinical supervision, and psychological and neuropsychological assessments. He has worked in psychotherapy and mental health care in various roles since 2010.

Ben grew up just outside New York City. He earned a Great Books B.A. from St. John’s College in New Mexico, studying philosophy, literature, and the history of mathematics and science. He then studied psychodynamic theory and practice at Pacifica Graduate Institute in California, earning an M.A. in Counseling in 2013. As a master’s-level therapist, he worked with incarcerated adults, youth living outside their homes in placements across New England, and clients in private group practice.

At Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Ben completed doctoral coursework and taught classes emphasizing a human science approach to psychology. He returned to New England for a predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Brattleboro Retreat, a psychiatric hospital in Vermont. There, he provided individual and group therapy and assessments in the adult LGBTQ+ inpatient unit and outpatient clinic. He began specialized training in neuropsychological assessment in 2020.

Ben’s approach to psychotherapy emphasizes understanding each person within the context of their relationships, culture, and life experiences. His work draws primarily on psychodynamic and existential-phenomenological perspectives, exploring how past experiences shape the present and how people make meaning of their lives. He also draws on training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based interventions.

Ben has facilitated trainings on community-based trauma in communities with limited access to mental health care, child sexual abuse prevention, and peer support for people who hear voices. His doctoral research explored transformative practices and spaces outside traditional clinical mental health settings.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his family, backpacking and hiking, playing and listening to music, and attending a men’s group.
