In order to apply best practices to neuropsychological assessment and diagnostic testing for autism spectrum disorders, Learning Solutions utilizes a team and multi-clinician approach to adult autism assessments (ages 16+). Clients work with 3-4 different clinicians, psychometrist(s), and/or clinical assistants for their neuropsychological testing, in addition to completing self- and parent- or observer-report measures. After testing is complete, all clinical staff meet to discuss each client, integrate findings, analyze data, consider diagnostic differentials and tailor recommendations. By having multiple clinicians involved, clients can feel more confident that their results are less likely to be biased by a single clinician’s opinion and that multiple perspectives are being taken into consideration. A combination of standardized and research measures, cognitive and neurocognitive tests, autism-specific tests and measures, and social/emotional measures are used, tailored to the needs of each individual client.
